They say ‘All good things come to an end’ and after 15 successful years and having raised over £130,000 for Breast Cancer Now, sadly 2022 was the final Mad March Hare event. Due to several factors including the competition of other events and the loss of key volunteers from the team it has been decided to step back from running the annual event.
A recent sad loss was that of Violet Bell who died as the result of a heart condition. Violet had been our treasurer for most of our 15 years. She was a true professional in the way she managed our accounts, never accepting anything without a receipt/invoice and chasing us up if we were late submitting expenses. Just two years ago we lost our administrator Georgia Nicholson who succumbed to Breast Cancer at the very young age of just 40.
The remaining team members will continue their fundraising for Breast Cancer Now.
A huge thank you to the hundreds of people who have taken part, volunteered with us and our sponsors for their generosity.
The Mad March Hare was a 5km and 10km event aiming to encourage people to become more active and raise funds for Breast Cancer Now. Since our first event in 2008 we have raised £130,000 and 100% of your entry fee went directly to the charity. We welcomed people of all abilities, ages and walks of life and dogs! Each year families running groups and individuals joined us to enjoy taking part in our unique event.
