The first registration has arrived at Mad March Hare HQ. Yes, Mad March Hare 2021 is underway with registrations now coming in from across the world. First to register was Jane Rodens from Ipswich. Originally from Swindon Jane has completed our event several times, often timing her trips back to see family so she can take part. The route it takes through Swindon is one of my favourites, I may not be able to run the same hills and views in Suffolk but I will give it a go. As soon as I saw the link on a friends’ Facebook page I thought it would be a good opportunity to support the charity. Jane Robens We’re delighted to have you on board Jane. Lots more…
The annual Mad March Hare quiz kicks off fundraising On 1st November 17 teams hopped over to the Mad March Hare annual quiz night which was held at Swindon Town Football Club launching fund raising activities for the 2019 event with a total of £854. The Mad March Hare team also took the opportunity to announce that the total raised at the 2018 event was £9,636. The room was packed with friendly competitive quizzers and Quiz Master Bill Gibbons put the teams through their paces with rounds that included quiz favourites History, Geography, Sport and Film. Everyone enjoyed the popular ploughman’s supper which has now become a tradition with Mad March Hare Quizers. I attended the evening with my husband and a group of friends….
The Virtual Event Continued On… In response to the guidance around COVID 19, early in March the Mad March Team took the sad decision to cancel the event scheduled for Sunday 22nd March 2020. However, the virtual event had been running for the past few years and had proved really popular, so we thought it would be a good idea to offer people the opportunity to do this instead (following social distance advice of course). Images of happy families completing their runs began to fill our Facebook page and we busily started to deliver the medals which had been so deservedly earned. Here are just a few of the many pictures we received.
The Mad March Hare Team are proud to announce the 2019 fundraising total Thanks to everyone who took part in the Mad March Hare this year and of course thanks to our amazing sponsors. We’ve just closed the books and the team are delighted to announce our 2019 fundraising total for Breast Cancer Now is £10,500. The fundraising continues and here are some dates for your diary: Saturday 7th September, Mamma Mia Movie and Greek Supper Night October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month Friday 1st November, Mad March Hare Quiz Night Friday 15th November, Celebration Black Tie Ball, Blunsdon House Hotel Sunday 22nd March 2020, Mad March Hare 2020
Thirteen wasn’t an unlucky number for the Mad March Hare Event as the team were determined to do all they could to continue their fundraising quest! The annual event based at Lydiard Academy welcomes over 500 participants walking, jogging or running a 5k or 10k route around West Swindon and raises money for Breast Cancer Now. Our fundraising up to 2019 stood at over £113,000. However, this year in response to the Government guidance around COVID 19 and after taking advice from organisers of other large events, the Team took the sad decision early in March to cancel the event scheduled for Sunday 22nd March. We were very disappointed to have to take this action but we considered it was appropriate under the circumstances. Registration for the event closed…
Remember, you can pay to enter Mad March Hare at the event on the day but make sure to bring your pennies as it’s cash only.
