Newcastle: So, there was quite a scene at Newcastle College recently. Firefighters had to step in because of some wild winds hitting North Staffordshire.

They found a loose solar panel on a lamppost outside the college. Two fire engines showed up, and they taped off the car park to keep everyone safe.

People were advised to avoid unnecessary trips to the college while they sorted things out. Thankfully, the car park is now back open after the panels were taken down.

The college initially mentioned that Storm Éowyn caused some disruption. Winds were expected to hit around 57mph, which is pretty intense!

There were also power cuts and fallen trees causing issues on the roads. A spokesperson from the college thanked the fire service for their quick help and the community for being patient.

They assured everyone that the car park is safe for students, staff, and visitors again. If you want updates on the weather, they have a live blog going.
