A stunning giant sun sculpture by artist Luke Jerram is now on display in Bath, inviting visitors to explore its intricate details safely

Bath: A new art installation is turning heads in Bath. Luke Jerram, a Bristol-based artist, has created a massive floating sun called Helios. This piece is not just a sculpture; it’s an experience.
Helios is seven meters wide and gives a detailed look at our sun. Each centimeter of the sculpture represents 2,000 kilometers of the sun’s surface. It even shows off cool features like sunspots!
But that’s not all. The installation includes a surround sound experience with NASA recordings of the sun. It’s designed to make you think about the sun’s role in our lives and how it shapes our planet.
Jerram mentioned that while looking directly at the sun can harm your eyes, Helios lets you get up close without any risk. He hopes the combination of sound, light, and size will create a memorable experience for everyone.
Helios was unveiled at the Bath Assembly Rooms and was free to visit over the weekend. If you missed it, don’t worry! It will be back on January 18 and 19, and then again from January 30 to February 23.
After Bath, Helios will tour the UK, visiting stunning spots like Fountains Abbey and Kedleston Hall. Plus, it will be displayed at various National Trust sites for free, including places in Coventry and Lewisham.
If you’re up for a small fee, you can catch it in London at the Old Royal Naval College from January 25 to March 25. So, there are plenty of chances to see this incredible artwork!
