We are honoured and inspired that Spencer will be taking part in the Virtual Mad March Hare
We were really touched to read your story. The thoughts of the Team are with you, your wife and her friends in the battle. We feel honoured and inspired that you have chosen to include Mad March Hare in your 55 events. We asked Spencer if we could tell his story and we’re please to share it here.
1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. My amazing wife Cherie and two friends are currently receiving treatment for this horrible disease. So I’ve decided to run in 55 organised races in 2022 for my 55th birthday, culminating in a 55k Ultramarathon if I reach my £2000 target (already beaten – £2402 raised by 10 March 2022) for the Primrose Foundation.
I’ve chosen this non-profit charity because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope you’ll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me. Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I’ve included information about The Primrose Foundation below.
The Primrose Foundation is your (Plymouth) local breast care charity, based within the Primrose Breast Care Centre, situated on Level 7, University Hospitals Plymouth.
“We offer support to all of the breast care services at University Hospitals Plymouth by providing funding for essential equipment, research, education, and front-line roles.
We also work with the whole of the Breast Care team and our dedicated volunteers to make a patients’ experience as comfortable as possible.
Our aim has always simply been to provide the best possible range of care and support when it is needed most.”
You can read more of Cherie and Spencer’s story and the work that the Princess Foundation does here.
If you’ve been inspired by Spencer, you too can register for this years Mad March Hare, collect sponsorship or just make donations at the Mad March Hare JustGiving page. All funds collected go towards supporting Breast Cancer Now.
