A charity is set to revamp Bethesda Chapel into a vibrant community hub. The project aims to include a college and event space, breathing new life into the historic building.

Stoke-on-Trent: Exciting news for Bethesda Chapel! A charity called Re-form Heritage just became the new owner. They plan to turn this historic chapel into a lively center for education and events.
After a thorough study, they want to bring in Pinc College as a key tenant. The chapel will also host exhibitions and performances, making it a community hotspot.
Dr. Alasdair Brooks, the chief executive, is thrilled about this project. He believes it will create a sustainable future for the beloved chapel. They’re eager to work with local groups to finalize their plans.
This chapel, known as the ‘Cathedral of the Potteries,’ has a rich history. Built in 1819, it can seat 2,000 people. Sadly, it closed in 1985 due to dwindling congregations and is now on the heritage at risk register.
There’s hope to host events for Stoke-on-Trent’s centenary celebrations this summer. Building work could start later this year, with completion expected by 2026.
Chris Smith from the Historic Chapels Trust expressed his sadness about stepping away. However, he’s excited that Re-form Heritage will take over. Their commitment to preserving heritage gives everyone confidence in the chapel’s future.
