COVID didn’t stop the 13th Mad March Hare
Thirteen wasn’t an unlucky number for the Mad March Hare Event as the team were determined to do all they could to continue their fundraising quest during Covid! The annual event based at Lydiard Academy welcomes over 500 participants walking, jogging or running a 5k or 10k route around West Swindon and raises money for Breast Cancer Now. Our fundraising up to 2019 stood at over £113,000. However, this year in response to the Government guidance around COVID 19 and after taking advice from organisers of other large events, the Team took the sad decision early in March to cancel the event scheduled for Sunday 22nd March. Although large it is said to be very friendly and happy to pose for selfies. Here we find the wild Mad March Hare in it’s natural environment. Hare Brained Quizzers Launch the 2020 Mad March Hare
Launch of the Mad March Hare 2020 Event The 1st November marked the official launch of the 13th Mad March Hare which will take place on Sunday 22nd March 2020. The annual quiz raises money to support the running of the Mad March Hare event meaning that unlike many other events 100% of the entrant’s fee goes directly to our chosen charity, Breast Cancer Now. The quiz night was a huge success raising over £1,000 with 27 teams and 169 people attending. The event is always fantastically supported by local people, running groups, walking groups and dedicated quizzers. Brilliant Christ Church Christmas Fayre
Christ Church Christmas Fayre Two members of the Mad March Hare team, Eunice and Margaret joined many other stall holders at Christ Church Christmas Fayre in Swindon on Saturday 20th November. The support was amazing and their Tombola sold out in the first hour swiftly followed by their cakes. The stall raised a little over £232 for the Mad March Hare funds. Grateful thanks to both Tesco and Asda for their generous donations of chocolates for our tombola.
