What is the route?

Copies of the 5km and 10km routes can be downloaded from our website. Once you have registered, online or by post, copies will be mailed to you. Both routes are circular.

The 5km route begins with a short distance along footpaths and cycle tracks before then entering the delightful surroundings of Lydiard Park.

The 10km route covers approximately 5km along footpaths and cycle tracks before it too enters Lydiard Park. At this point the 5km and 10km converge and return to Lydiard Academy along safe footpaths and cycle tracks.

Is the Mad March Hare a race and is it timed?

NO – we don’t have a timing clock at the start or finish. Our aim is to provide an event that will be welcoming to all comers of all abilities from across the community.

We do attract some elite runners and some very fast power walkers who bring their own time pieces. The majority of entrants are out to enjoy the exercise, have fun and raise valuable sponsorship for our chosen charity.

Is there any recognition for being first across the finish line?

Everyone who crosses the finish line receives a medal, a goody bag and warm congratulations from supporters.

We are keen to recognise our first past the post so one of the marshals will we’ll be looking out for them to pass their details on to local media.

Is merchandise available?
Mad March Hare merchandise including Caps, Pin Badges, Bags and Bunny Ears are available here on our website and will be for sale on the day.
