Stoke-on-Trent: Two sisters, Deborah and Jill, were fed up with the freezing pool at Moorville Hall Hotel. They joined the leisure club in 2022 and renewed their membership in May 2024.

But they only managed to swim a couple of times since then. The pool was just too cold! After reaching out to StokeonTrentLive, they finally got a £125 refund.

Deborah, 59, from Meir Park, shared her frustration. She said they had been told the pool’s heating would be fixed, but nothing changed. They paid for a service they couldn’t use.

She mentioned that swimming was important for their health. They didn’t want to just hit the gym. It was disappointing to pay for something they couldn’t enjoy.

Deborah had been raising the issue since June. She felt angry and believed others were in the same boat. Many members enjoyed the quiet atmosphere without kids splashing around.

It was a nice place for older folks to socialize. But with the pool being cold, they missed out on that. It just didn’t feel fair.

The hotel hasn’t commented on Deborah’s concerns yet. However, they did send her an email about the new heating system. They mentioned that the membership covers more than just the pool.

They offered the refund as a goodwill gesture, hoping to keep Deborah and Jill as members. Now that the pool is operational, they want to provide a better experience.
