London: Excitement is buzzing for Little Mix fans as Jesy Nelson is about to become a mom. The 33-year-old singer shared the news on Instagram, showing off her baby bump with her boyfriend, musician Zion Foster, who is 25. Jesy joked that she’s “eating for three,” which has fans wondering if twins are on the way.

With Jesy expecting, the hunt for baby names just got a lot more interesting. Picking a name can be a big deal, and it often comes with a lot of thought. Some parents have names picked out long before they even conceive, while others struggle to find something that fits their style and sounds good with the family name.

In the UK, over half of parents (54%) think it’s important for siblings to have names that go well together. Interestingly, 43% find it tougher to choose names for their second child. To help out, maternity retailer JoJo Maman Bébé has brought in baby name expert Colleen Slagen to share some tips.

Colleen talks about how to find names that complement each other while still being unique. She also points out some naming trends that might be best to avoid. She mentioned that getting both parents to agree on a name can be tricky, especially if they’ve already used their favorite for the first child.

She added that while many parents want names that sound good together, it’s also important to choose names that stand on their own. After all, kids will introduce themselves as individuals, not just as siblings.

Colleen suggests that when picking a name for a second child, it’s better to focus on style rather than just how they sound together. For example, she prefers names like Brooks and Hudson over Brooks and Banks. She also likes classic names that have a timeless feel, like Adeline and Susannah.

Colleen also noted how social media and celebrity culture influence naming trends. Many people are drawn to the idea of siblings having names that start with the same letter, inspired by the Kardashians. However, opinions are split in the UK, with only 47% in favor of matching initials.

She believes this Kardashian trend can be a double-edged sword. While it helps tie names together, it can also lead to parents picking names they don’t love just to fit the trend. Social media has made people more obsessed with matching names, which can add unnecessary pressure to the naming process.
