Sheila Riley’s daughters seek support as their mother faces a second cancer battle
Bristol: A teacher named Sheila Riley is facing a tough time. After battling a brain tumor three years ago, she’s now dealing with leukaemia. It’s been a rough ride, and her daughters, Tia and Leoni, are stepping up to help.
Sheila has to visit the hospital several times a week for treatment, which means she can’t work. The benefits she gets just don’t cover her rent and bills, leaving her worried about losing her home.
To help their mum, Tia and Leoni set up a GoFundMe page. So far, they’ve raised over £1,600 from nearly 60 donations, many from kind strangers. It’s heartwarming to see people come together like this.
Sheila has been a dedicated teacher in Bristol, working in various primary schools. She was back at work after her first battle with cancer, but now she’s facing another fight. The leukaemia diagnosis hit her hard, and she’s undergoing intense treatment.
Sheila shared her worries about finances, saying it’s stressful not being able to pay the bills. She’s trying to stay positive, though, and is determined to fight through this just like she did before.
Tia mentioned how generous people were during their mum’s first battle. They never expected to be in this situation again so soon. The treatment for leukaemia is tough, and Sheila needs all the support she can get.
Sheila feels a bit embarrassed about needing help, as she’s always been the one supporting her family. But she’s grateful for the love and support from friends and family. They even set up a WhatsApp group to help coordinate rides to the hospital.
Sheila remains hopeful about her treatment and just wants to get back to her teaching job as soon as she can. If you want to help, check out the GoFundMe page for more info.
