Dave Fishwick explains his decision to decline an offer from Strictly Come Dancing due to his busy schedule and lack of dance skills
Burnley: So, Dave Fishwick, the guy behind Netflix’s Bank of Dave, recently opened up about why he turned down a spot on Strictly Come Dancing. Can you believe it? The 53-year-old entrepreneur, who was played by Rory Kinnear in the movie, is set to make a cameo in the sequel, Bank of Dave: The Lone Ranger.
Even with that exciting role, he’s not hitting the dance floor anytime soon. The BBC reached out to him last year, but Dave had a pretty practical reason for saying no. His schedule is just too packed.
He shared with Lancs Live that the thought of 35 hours of practice a week was overwhelming. He joked, “How am I supposed to… I can’t even find three and a half hours!” His wife chimed in, confirming he really can’t dance, which the producers found amusing.
At first, he thought it would be fun to have a professional dancer living with him, but when he realized that meant constant training, he had to think twice. In the end, he knew he just couldn’t commit the time needed for all that practice.
Dave made his fortune selling minibuses and later started Burnley Savings and Loans to help folks after the 2008 financial crisis. His new film aims to tackle payday loan companies, and he’s got big plans for 2025. Reality TV? Not for him. He turned down I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! too, saying, “That ain’t for me. I go after the baddies.”
