The poor victim suffered serious injuries. He ended up with a fractured foot, pelvic bone, and hip. Plus, he had bruises on his chest and eye. The impact was so strong that he landed in the backseat of the car!
After the crash, Lal was arrested. He tested positive for cannabis and was taken in. But here’s the twist: he gave the police fake details and then ran off to Stoke-on-Trent.
Luckily, the police found him quickly. He faced multiple charges, including dangerous driving and driving without insurance. CCTV footage showed him driving wildly just before the accident.
Lal, who lived on King Street in Wellington, was found guilty. He got a five-year prison sentence on January 28. The police spokesperson said his actions were irresponsible and caused serious harm.
They hope the sentence brings some closure to the victim, who has been through so much already. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
