A dad who turned his life around is back in prison after being caught with cocaine twice. Despite his efforts to change, he received a 32-month sentence for his actions.

Stoke-on-Trent: A dad named Azahar Bukhari is back in prison. He was caught with cocaine twice in just 42 days, despite trying to turn his life around.
At 48, he had been doing well for four years. He even had a child with his new partner. But things took a turn when he was pulled over in two different Audis.
During the first stop in Cobridge, police found cocaine, cash, and a phone. They later searched his home and discovered more cash. A month later, he was stopped again near Hanley Bus Station with more cocaine.
His lawyer, Balbir Singh, explained that Bukhari was in a tough spot back then. He had just gone through a breakup, was living with his cousin, and fell into bad habits.
He started drinking and using drugs, which led him to a drug debt he couldn’t pay. Singh mentioned that drug dealers often recruit people like Bukhari to work for them.
Since getting out of prison for drug-driving, Bukhari has made positive changes. He’s stayed out of trouble and has a new partner who seems supportive.
They have an 18-month-old child together, and he’s been involved in community work. Singh expressed concern that prison could lead Bukhari back to bad influences.
Judge Graeme Smith acknowledged Bukhari’s ups and downs. He noted that Bukhari’s offenses were linked to a tough time in his life, marked by depression and poor choices.
Despite his past, the judge recognized that Bukhari isn’t a habitual criminal. He’s shown he can change, but the judge still handed down a 32-month sentence.
It’s a tough situation for everyone involved, especially his family. Bukhari’s story is a reminder of how quickly life can change.
