A woman was discovered dead at her home in Devon, prompting a murder investigation and the arrest of a 67-year-old man
Sidmouth: So, there’s been a pretty shocking incident in Devon. Police are diving into a murder investigation after a woman was found dead at her home. This all went down on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to a place called Lark Rise in Newton Poppleford around 1:15 PM. Sadly, they declared a 70-year-old woman dead at the scene. Right now, they’re trying to get in touch with her family.
They’ve set up a police cordon and are digging into what happened. A 67-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is still in custody as we speak.
It seems like the man and woman knew each other, and police aren’t looking for anyone else connected to her death. They’re asking anyone who might have seen something or has video footage to reach out.
Detective Inspector Paula Trevett mentioned that they’re treating this as an isolated incident. She reassured the community that they’re on top of it and that folks will see more police around. If anyone’s feeling uneasy, they should definitely talk to the local officers.
