Stoke-on-Trent: A bunch of criminals got locked up in January. Among them were a rioting couple, a twisted paedophile, and an arsonist. It was quite a month for the courts.
Peter Wiggins, 55, got five years for having a car full of cocaine. He was caught near the M6. Then there’s Daniel Tunney, a 42-year-old paedophile with a stash of nearly 50,000 child abuse images. He’s now facing ten years behind bars.
Jake Hammersley, 32, was jailed for attacking his pregnant girlfriend. He lured her to a park and then turned violent. Meanwhile, seven members of a drug gang got a total of 37 years for dealing heroin and cocaine.
Colin Stonehouse and David Kirkbride, both 36 and 28, were jailed for joining a riot over asylum seekers. They caused a lot of damage at a hotel, which didn’t sit well with the courts.
Stephen Lockley, 39, was caught with a massive drug haul worth around £3 million. He got six years for that. Linda Lawrence, 58, also got six years for having £750,000 worth of cocaine in her car.
Lee Bould, the arsonist, set fire to a car while on drugs. He got 25 months for that. Stephen Higgs, 39, was jailed for 15 months for assaulting his partner while drunk.
Thang Nguyen was caught with over 300 cannabis plants worth a lot of money. He got 18 months. Steven Kennedy, with a bad driving record, was jailed for 17 weeks for driving without a license.
Then there’s Bobby Machin, who attacked his ex in a pub. He got nearly four years for that. Freddie Carruthers broke into a flat and was jailed for 25 months.
Azahar Bukhari, despite trying to turn his life around, got 32 months for drug offenses. Two illegal immigrants caught in a cannabis operation also faced jail time.
Lastly, a car theft gang was hit with over 16 years in total for stealing vehicles worth around £1.1 million. It’s been a busy month for the justice system!
