London: So, it looks like the UK is finally shaking off that Arctic freeze. After some seriously cold days, we’re expecting temperatures to climb this week. Can you believe it? Some places might even hit 12°C!

Just last Saturday, Scotland saw a bone-chilling -18.9°C, the coldest January night in 15 years. But don’t worry, that’s all about to change. The Met Office says the South West will stay a bit cooler, around 5°C to 8°C, while Northern Ireland and Scotland could see 11°C to 12°C on Monday and Tuesday.

Monday’s forecast is calling for some wind and rain in the north, but the south should stay drier, albeit a bit cloudy. As the week goes on, we might see some snow melting, which could raise river levels. Tuesday should be similar, with temperatures in the north hitting 11°C to 12°C and the south around 8°C to 9°C.

Right now, Northern Scotland is sitting at about 0.3°C, while England is hovering around 1.5°C to 1.6°C at night. The UK Health Security Agency has extended its cold weather health alert until Tuesday, especially for those over 65 or with health issues.

As we move through the week, high pressure is expected to settle in the southeast, bringing more stable weather. The forecast from January 17 to 26 suggests mixed skies, with some frost and fog in the south and east, while the far northwest might see a bit of rain.

Looking ahead, the Met Office warns that we could see some rain and wind affecting most parts of the UK, especially in the north and west. But don’t forget, there’s still a chance of colder spells with frost and snow.

Tonight should be dry with gentle winds, and we might even get some clear skies in the south. Just watch out for patchy frost and fog. Tomorrow looks like a dry day for most, with any fog clearing up in the morning. It’s going to feel a lot milder, with a max of 9°C.

As we head into the latter part of the week, it should stay generally dry, with a lot of cloud but some sunshine peeking through. Temperatures will be around average, but keep an eye out for frost and fog!
