A woman witnessed two dogs after an attack and defended them. She claims one was friendly while the other was scared and injured, criticizing the police’s response.
Normacot: A woman named Charlotte Bartley saw two dogs running away after an attack. She was shocked when police called them dangerous.
Charlotte said one dog looked friendly, while the other was scared and hurt. She spotted them on Lightwood Street after they attacked a man nearby.
The man was hurt but not seriously. He ended up in the hospital with injuries to his arms and hands. Thankfully, he was expected to recover.
Charlotte tried to help the dogs. She saw one get hit by a car but still managed to run away. The other dog was friendly and came right to her.
She described the brown dog as sweet and calm. It took treats from her and wagged its tail when meeting another dog. Charlotte couldn’t believe it was labeled dangerous.
She put a makeshift collar on the brown dog, and when police arrived, they agreed it didn’t seem threatening. But Charlotte was upset with how the police handled the situation.
She felt their response was over the top. Officers showed up in riot gear and even threatened to shoot the dog if it attacked. Charlotte questioned who the real monster was.
She hoped the brown dog wouldn’t be put down. Charlotte believed it was a good dog and just needed help. She wanted the police to inform the public about the injured dog.
Staffordshire Police said both dogs are being assessed. They emphasized the need for a strong response to potentially dangerous situations to keep the community safe.
